Galore — Luxury handbag resale platform

Role: UX/UI Designer (Research, flows, UX writing)

Duration: 3 weeks

Team: 4 designers

Deliverables: Responsive seller authentication and valuation flow

Tools: Figma, Slack, Zoom

A live client project focused on building trust, transparency, and Gen-Z engagement in a circular luxury marketplace.

Selling a luxury handbag online requires trust, and Galore's users didn't have it. They were uncertain about what the authentication process involved, unclear on what their bag was worth, and often dropped off before submitting. Galore needed to fix that while expanding their reach to a younger, Gen-Z audience.

The Challenge

We redesigned the seller journey to give users clarity before they committed, introducing a valuation estimate upfront, a transparent authentication flow with ID checks and third-party reviews, and clear, guided UX writing at every step where users previously dropped off.

The Solution

Authentication flow

Designed a seller verification process using ID checks and third-party reviews to increase trust and transparency. Added video walkthroughs and testimonials to improve credibility.

Valuation estimate

Introduced a bag estimation feature to help users understand potential value before starting authentication.

UX writing improvements

Added tooltips and disclaimers to clarify complex steps and reduce user uncertainty.

What I worked on

Reflection

Research revealed that Gen-Z users weren't distrusting of luxury resale in general they were specifically uncertain about what would happen to their bag and what it was worth before committing to the process. That insight shaped the entire direction, leading us to prioritise transparency and upfront guidance over visual polish.

The client responded positively at sprint review, specifically highlighting the valuation estimate feature as a direct solution to their biggest drop off problem. The UX writing improvements tooltips and disclaimers at key decision points were also called out as something they hadn't considered but immediately understood the value of.

Working directly with a live client taught me how to balance user needs with business constraints under real time pressure. I also learned how to work effectively as part of a design team navigating different opinions, making collaborative decisions quickly, and knowing when to push back. If I were to revisit this project I'd conduct more usability testing on the authentication flow specifically, to validate our assumptions about how users feel about verifying high value items before presenting to the client.
